Maharashtra: 15-day Janta curfew imposed, strict action to be taken against violators

Maharashtra recorded 58,952 new COVID-19 cases on April 14, 2021. Maharashtra's COVID death toll has increased to 58,804. Maharashtra Janta curfew came into force at 8 pm on April 14 and will remain in operation 7 am on May 1. With ‘Janta curfew’ coming into force from April 14, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray directed the authorities to ensure strict implementation of the restrictions and COVID-19 appropriate behaviour at public places. The Maharashtra chief minister asked the officials to shut the shops if the owners are found to violate the COVID-19-related norms like social distancing and use of face masks. "If crowding happens, the officials can shut down the shops," Maha CM Thackeray said.
