(Eds: Adds details) Mumbai, Jan 26 (PTI) Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally rose to 20,13,353 on Tuesday after it recorded 2,405 fresh cases, while more than 2,100 patients recovered from the infection, said a state health department official.
After dropping below 2,000 on Monday, which saw 1,842 new infections, the single-day count again breached that mark.
The state also reported 47 deaths, taking the fatality count to 50,862, he said.
Also, 2,106 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, pushing the tally of recovered people to 19,17,450, the official said.
With this, the number of active cases stood at 43,811.
Mumbai city reported 342 cases during the day, which pushed its overall case count to 3,06,740, while its death toll rose to 11,317 after nine more patients succumbed to the infection, the official said.
With 57,219 new tests, the number of tests conducted in the state has gone up to 1,42,57,998.
The Mumbai division, which consists of the city and its satellite towns, reported 671 new cases, raising the total to 6,90,131.
A total of 19,511 people have died so far in the region, the official said.
The Nashik division's cumulative case tally stood at 2,74,797 and the death toll at 5,083.
The number of cases in the Pune division stood at 4,98,058 and the COVID-19 deaths at 11,534, he said.
The Kolhapur division has reported 1,17,652 cases and 4,010 deaths till now, while the Aurangabad division's infection tally stood at 74,720 and the death count at 1,995, the official said.
The Latur division has reported 81,869 cases and 2,462 fatalities until now.
The Akola division has registered 70,335 cases, while 1,572 people have succumbed to the disease so far.
The Nagpur division has recorded 2,05,641 infections and 4,612 fatalities till date, the official informed.
So far, there have been 150 COVID-19 cases where patients from other states received treatment in Maharashtra.
Of these, 83 have died, he said.
