(Eds: Adds details) Mumbai, Sep 29 (PTI) Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally rose to 13,66,129 on Tuesday with the addition of 14,976 new cases, while a higher number of 19,212 patients were discharged following recovery, the state health department said.
As many as 430 more patients succumbed to the infection, taking the fatality count in the state to 36,181, it said.
Also, 19,212 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, raising the tally of recovered people to 10,69,159, the department said.
With this, the state now has 2,60,363 active cases.
Mumbai city reported 1,713 positive cases during the day, which pushed its overall count to 2,02,614, while its toll rose to 8,883 after 49 more patients died due to the disease, the department said.
Pune city added 1,005 COVID-19 cases, raising its tally to 1,54,344, while 25 fresh deaths took the toll to 3,500, it said.
The state has so far conducted 66,98,024 tests.
Out of the 430 fatalities, 232 were reported in the last 48 hours, while 108 occurred a week back. Another 90 deaths took place more than a week ago, but were added to the fatality count on Tuesday, an official said.
The Mumbai division, which consists of the metropolis and its satellite towns, reported 3,648 new cases, raising the total count to 4,75,360.
A total of 15,682 people have died so far in the region, the official said.
The number of cases in the Pune division stood at 3,61,798 and deaths at 7,779 the official said.
The Nashik division's cumulative case tally stood at 1,81,055 and the death toll at 3,642, he said.
The Kolhapur division has reported 92,714 cases and 2,820 deaths till now, while the Aurangabad division's case tally stood at 51,730 and the fatality count at 1,311, the official said.
The Latur division has reported 55,342 COVID-19 cases and 1,494 fatalities until now.
The Akola division has recorded 40,922 cases, while 906 people have succumbed to the infection so far.
The Nagpur division has reported 1,05,644 infections and 2,409 fatalities, the official informed.
As many as 1,564 COVID-19 patients in Maharashtra were those who are from other states, but receiving treatment here.
Of these, 138 have died so far, he said.
A total of 21,35,496 people are currently under home quarantine in the state, while 29,947 others are in isolation in institutional facilities, he added.
