Madhesis will continue protest until their demands are met

The situation is still volatile and normal life in the Terai region has come to a halt after an open firing from the police killed as many as 7 people and left 30 more injured. Following the ongoing clash in Saptari district, the Madhesh-based parties have withdrawn their support for the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government and Madhesis have vowed that they would continue opposing the government until their demands are met through a constitutional amendment. The violence broke out after the Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist Leninist) attempted to hold a rally in Rajbiraj area of Saptari district. Ethnic Madhesi groups opposed the party and declared that they would oppose its rallies.
