Stan Lee, the legendary comic book writer and the editor and publisher of Marvel Comics whose work made him a real-life superhero to comic book lovers everywhere, died at the age of 95 on Monday, 12 November.
Lee, who has been often credited with revolutionising comics, breathed his last at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to Kirk Schenck, an attorney for Lee's daughter, JC Lee.
Stan Lee is the man behind some of Marvel Comics’ biggest characters like Spiderman, Black Panther, Fantastic Four, Hulk, Daredevil, Thor, Iron Man and more.
As the top writer at Marvel Comics and later as its publisher, he revived the industry in the 1960s by offering the costumes and action craved by younger readers while insisting on sophisticated plots, college-level dialogue, satire, science fiction, even philosophy.
Spider-Man, the Hulk, Iron Man and X-Men were among the Lee creations that went on to become stars of blockbuster films.
Hollywood celebrities, tech leaders, musicians, and even competitors like DC Comics and Disney took to Twitter to express grief over the legend’s demise.

At age 7, I drew this weird portrait of Stan Lee and asked my Mom to send it to him. Thankfully she didn't because 30+ years later, I got to give it to the great one in person. Thanks for all the fun Stan #Excelsior pic.twitter.com/IpfYBSjWyf— Jimmy Kimmel (@jimmykimmel) November 12, 2018
