After 'Maatr', Sonakshi Sinha-starrer 'Noor' faces CBFC's wrath

A day after CBFC refused to clear Ashtar Syed's revenge drama 'Maatr' for release, the film certification board is in the news yet again. CBFC has asked the makers of Sunhil Sippy's slice of life drama 'Noor' starring Sonakshi Sinha to chop off two words from the film - 'Dalit' and 'Sex toy'. Now, one can understand as to why the board members had a problem with the word 'sex toy' but how is 'Dalit' an objectionable term? According to sources, the word 'Dalit' has been muted from the film whenever it finds mention. Adding further, the website also reported that the film's director has been asked to replace 'sex toys' with 'adult site'. Their explanation for this move is that references to the community will invoke references to the caste system that is prevalent in India. Directed by Sunhil Sippy, the film also stars Kanan Gill, Purab Kohli and Shibani Dandekar and is scheduled to hit the theatres on April 21.
