Ludhiana: Three Killed, Several Injured as Massive Fire At Plastic Manufacturing Factory Causes Building Collapse
Ludhiana, November 20: Three people died and more than 15 people are trapped under the debris, after a factory manufacturing polybags caught fire and collapsed in Industrial Area in Ludhiana on Monday.
Three firemen are also trapped under the debris as firefighting operations were underway, Ludhiana Police Commissioner told news agency ANI.
The state government has also called National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) along with Border Security Force (BSF) and Punjab Amed Police (PAP) at the site to carry out rescue and search operations.
Around 10 fire tenders were rushed at the spot to douse the fire. The reason behind the fire is yet to be known.

“One body extracted. 15 trapped at least. NDRF team has reached. BSF and PAP also coming from Jalandhar, ” Police Commissioner R N Dhoke told ANI. The deceased has been identified as Inderpal Singh.
The fireman department said that the officials Rajinder Sharma, Sumohan Gill and Raj Kumar are feared to be trapped in the rubble.

The fire was reported at 8 am and the building turned into rubble at around 12.15 pm.
Some reports suggest that the containers of chemicals were stored inside the building in small plastic bags. Residents living nearby were also asked to vacate their houses.
