Logan vs Commando 2 box-office collection: Vidyut no match for Wolverine's claws

While the box-office collection of Logan starring Hugh Jackman saw a rise on Saturday, the box-office train of Commando 2 slowed down.

That strange feeling when a Hollywood movie beats an Indian movie at the box office...

Especially when the Indian movie in question is based on the hottest topic in town: the war against black money.

The Hollywood film Logan starring Hugh Jackman and the Bollywood film Commando 2: The Black Money Trail released on the same day - Friday, February 3.

Logan has a lot of emotional value attached to it. Not only does it star Hugh Jackman as the much-loved comic book character Wolverine, Logan is also the actor's final appearance as the character. Including Logan, Hugh has played Wolverine on screen nine times and after this, some other actor will be roped in to play the iconic role.

Meanwhile Commando 2: The Black Money Trail is the sequel to Vidyut Jammwal-starrer Commando: A One Man Army which released in 2013. Given its small budget, the first Commando film was a modest hit. Combined with the hype around Vidyut Jammwal's martial art skills and the theme of the film, there was much expectation from Commando 2.

However, Logan saw a rise in its box-office collection on Saturday while Commando 2 saw a dip!

Total box-office collection of Logan:

Day 1: Friday (February 3) - Rs 4.75 crore

Day 2: Saturday (February 4) - Rs 5.75 crore

Two-day box-office collection of Logan is Rs 10.50 crore

Total box-office collection of Commando 2:

Day 1: Friday (February 3) - Rs 5.14 crore

Day 2: Saturday (February 4) - Rs 4.42 crore

Two-day box-office collection of Logan is Rs 9.56 crore

While Logan has received great reviews from both international and Indian critics, Commando 2 has not been able to impress critics anywhere.

The next big Indian release in theatres is Badrinath Ki Dulhania which releases on March 10. So there is still some time for both films to pick up pace at the box office.
