After a period of 20 years, Nepal is going to witness the local polls and people of Nepal have positive feeling regarding the commencement of local elections in their country. They believe that it will help in development of the country. Elections were once a distant dream for Nepal due to Monarchical rule and political instability. A total of 81 parties have registered their name with the Election Commission and six parties of United Madheshi Democratic Front (UDMF) have refused to participate in the local elections, demanding constitutional amendment. Only the Federal Democratic Forum led by Upendra Yadav has registered its name for the upcoming elections. The residents believe that it is an important milestone in its long and difficult transition to democracy.
