Local BJP leader injured in clash in UP's Ballia; 4 arrested

Ballia (UP), Apr 2 (PTI) Four people, including a policeman, were arrested after a clash broke out between two groups in a village here in which a local BJP leader and another person were injured, police said on Friday.

Rival factions attacked each other with bricks and sticks in Sanwara village of Rasda on Thursday night over a Facebook post related to panchayat polls, the police said, adding that shots were fired in the air as well.

Local BJP leader Bhupendra Nath Singh (40) and a person identified as Sanjiv Kumar Singh were injured in the clash, they said.

An FIR was lodged based on a complaint by Rakesh Kumar, a local, and four people accused in the case – Rahul, Bittu, Vikas Singh and Rohit Kumar Singh, a policeman posted in Basti – were arrested, Additional Superintendent of Police Sanjay Yadav said. PTI Corr ABN MGA IJT
