Live-in relationships are legally and socially unacceptable, claim Punjab and Haryana High Court

Petition filed by an eloped couple was recently dismissed by the Punjab and Haryana high court, which stated that a "live-in relationship is legally or socially not appropriate." Justice HS Madan issued the ruling. Gulza Kumari and Gurwinder Singh filed the petition. The young couple informed the court that they were living together and that they were seeking life and liberty protection through the plea. The two petitioners told the court that they wanted to marry soon but were concerned about their safety.
