Few Indian stars have been as versatile as Kamal Haasan. In a career spanning more than five decades he has been a film actor, screenwriter, director, producer, playback singer, choreographer, lyricist, philanthropist and dancer. Fact 7: Kamal’s niece, Suhasini (His oldest brother Charuhasan’s daughter), is married to celebrated director Mani Ratnam with whom Kamal had collaborated on the superhit film ‘Nayakan’ in 1987.
Fact 8: In the early 70s’, Kamal Haasan was rumored to have had an affair with actress Srividya. The Malayalam film ‘Thirakatta’ by Renjith is said to be based on their relationship.
Fact 9: At age 24, he married Indian classical danseuse Vani Ganapathy. They were married for 10 years before they separated.
Fact 10: He and actress Sarika (his second wife) were in a live-in relationship in the late 80s’. They got married after the birth of their first daughter Shruthi Haasan. Both his daughters Shruthi and Akshara have pursued a career in films.
Fact 11: His affair with co-star Simran, who is 22 years his junior, was the reason behind his divorce with Sarika. However, his affair with Simran didn’t last too long as the actress went on to marry her childhood sweetheart.
Fact 12: Following his break up with Simran, Kamal was living in with actress Gautami until 2016. But recently Gautami announced that she has ended her relationship with the star.
Fact 13: Kamal is a self-proclaimed atheist and has often questioned the existence of God and portrayed the same in some of his films.
