Hey! Harry Potter fan, yes you – the wait for your Hogwarts letter is finally over. There’s finally a chance for you to be a part of the world of wizardry and witchcraft. And maybe, even own a white owl and call it Hedwig.
This summer, inspired by JK Rowling’s creation, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, UK is ready to give us a real-life Hogwarts.
Fret Not, You Don’t Really Need a Letter
Whether you’re a wizard or a house-elf, everyone is welcome. And no, you don’t need a letter (even though that would have added a charm to it). But you do have to be above 18 years of age. Bothwell School of Witchcraft will be started at the Herstmonceux Castle in August 2017.
The age old castle will offer a three-day stay, with a chance to attend an actual banquet. Frankly, Potterheads deserve this. One can only hope and pray that this banquet bears resemblance to the real Hogwarts’ banquet.
Their idea is to create the atmosphere of a beautiful fantasy that Hogwarts is, as close to the books as possible. The students will be sorted into the four Houses – Slytherin, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, and study their favourite magical subjects (Defence Against the Dark Arts, anyone?)
They even get to take part in inter-house competitions and solve a murder-mystery style event.
Of course, all this comes at a price. A standard ticket would cost anywhere around £400 – £450, or about Rs 32,600-36,7000.
However, the Bothwell School’s official website clearly states that this event has nothing to do with JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series. “This is an event about witches and wizards, not Harry Potter.”
