Liquor baron Vijay Mallya, who is being chased by the Indian Government since long for money laundering case, has finally been arrested in London and will be produced in a London court today. He was arrested by the Scotland Yard. Mallya, wanted in several economic offences cases, had fled and sought refuge in United Kingdom after India issued a lookout notice for him. Earlier this year, a special court had allowed the Enforcement Directorate to invoke the India-UK Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) and initiate a probe in a money laundering case. Mallya, wanted in a loan default case worth Rs. 9,000 crores, is likely to be extradited to India later.
