The bad news is that we have a collective curfew of 10pm for the foreseeable future.
Pessimists will see this as an impediment from the government, while the optimists among us will be thrilled that day drinking is now essentially the law. No more late-night lock-ins at our locals for us!
The only downside of being *forced* to head to the pub during the day is the lethargy it triggers once the sun sets. Has anybody ever properly double cleansed post-daytime wine session? (The answer is no.)
For those who will prioritise their skin’s health above all else, then these are the beauty products to know about this week (you may even find you have more pennies in your purse from your early eve to purchase them!) For the rest of you, there are a few make-up bits that might give you an extra glow-up for that early afternoon pub excursion.
RMS Beauty Master Radiance Base
RMS Beauty Master Radiance Base, £28.50, buy now
Nobody does clean beauty quite as well as RMS Beauty, whose Un-Cover Up Cream Foundation (£53, buy now) has been my base of choice for years. Its products are not only housed in pared-back and pretty vessels, but they're also vegan and they work. Forget the chalkiness that led me to shun foundation for years, these are face products that actually make skin glow while also concealing imperfections. RMS' latest launch, its Master Radiance Base, is the cream highlighter to end all highlighters. It's like skin, but better. I've been wearing it under the foundation and have received a string of compliments.
Westman Atelier Super Loaded Peau de Rose
Westman Atelier Super Loaded Peau de Rose, £69, buy now
I once read that when you're tired you should shun bronzer in favour of blusher, to mimic the skin's natural flush. I don't know if it's the state of the world or my neighbours who possess a certain proclivity to playing rock music till the early hours but this girl is lacking in Z's and Gucci Westman's latest pearly blush is helping to resurrect my sleep-deprived face.
Christian Louboutin Metal Matte Fluid lip stains
Christian Louboutin Rouge Louboutin Metal Matte Fluid, £68, buy now
The art of mask-friendly make-up has stumped even the slickest and most coiffed among us, but I have found salvation in Christian Louboutin's latest matte lip stains. While the colours are uber pigmented and I prefer a nude lip, I find with just one sweep, my lips look - and stay - perfectly kissable all day long, with no transfer onto my mask. Can we also talk about how major they look in their packaging? Any lipstick that wouldn't look out of place on Miranda Priestley's desk is a sure-fire win in our eyes.
Le Labo Citron 28 Eau de Parfum
Le Labo Citron 28 Eau de Parfum, from £92, buy now
There isn't one of Le Labo's scents that I don't like but its tenth addition to the City Exclusives range is a serious, serious contender for first place. Citron 28 is Seoul's scent which, accordig to the brand, is “a city rooted in tradition and history, yet at the forefront of all that is modern and forward-thinking.” The scent is similar to Le Labo's best-selling Another 13, but is more rooted in citrus-inspired smells (hence the name.)
As a City Exclusive, it's only available for the next week (the scents are exclusively sold throughout the month of September), but for any fans of light and breezy but oh-so-alluring smells: run, don't walk.
Murad Clarifying Oil-Free Water Gel
Murad Clarifying Oil-Free Water Gel, £38, buy now
The biggest downside of having a mask perennially attached to your face is the reaction it causes with your skin (just me?) The maskne has been real for me and I've found that Murad's gel moisturiser has eased my skin's stress. The moisturiser comprises an innovative technology that interrupts communication within the skin so bacteria can't form a cluster and trigger a breakout. Mind-blogging and skin-clearing stuff.
Triumph & Disaster YLF Body Wash
Triumph & Disaster YLF Body Wash, £28, buy now
Why spend money on shaving foam, body wash and shampoo, is the mindset of New Zealand-based brand Triumph & Disaster. Its YLF Body Wash, which is bursting with nourishing Argan Oil, antibacterial Rosewood and healing Kawakawa Leaf extract manages to tick all boxes, with just one product. All you need is one pump and it lathers up into a sumptuous foam which spans the entire body. Don't ask how they do it, just rush to get yourself one and get ready to fall in love.
