GAME PREVIEW

Shillong Lajong, at the bottom of the table with seven points from 14 games, won their first game in 13 matches in the last round. However, the Reds are still at least five points away from safety with six games to go.

It would hence be imperative for Lajong to pick as many points as possible from here on, especially after already losing as many as 11 games already this term.

They got the better of Minerva Punjab in their last match, thanks to an opportunistic strike by Mahesh Singh who scored minutes after coming off the bench. It was also the first time Lajong have not let in a goal in the entire season.

Coach Alison Kharsyntiew has altered his team combination and has made use of the options at his disposal. But the team's speedy attacks often lack the finishing touch.

Petre Gigiu Churchill Brothers I-League 2018-19

Petre Gigiu may view this fixture as an opportunity to put Churchill Brothers top of the standings with a win as they are just a point adrfit current leaders Chennai City FC (30). If they draw, however, both teams will have the same goal difference (+13) while the southerners have scored four more goals for now.

The Red Machines somehow managed to grind out a 1-1 draw against Real Kashmir and as a result continue to share points (29) with the Kashmiri outfit. It was Willis Plaza, having scored his 16th goal this season, who came to Churchill's rescue once again.

Gigiu has insisted that players such as Khalid Aucho, Dawda Ceesay and Plaza are fielded despite their full fitness, although none of which was evident on the pitch.

The visitors, whether home or away, predominantly look to attack and are guarded well at the back with Hussein Eldor marshalling the defence. Plaza is the leaidng goalscorer in the competition and while everyone have been focusing on Real Kashmir and Chennai City, there is no doubt that Churchill will make some take note if they manage to win.

Can Shillong Lajong turn on the giantslayer tag upon themselves or will Churchill Brothers further punish the hosts?
