GAME PREVIEW

Aizawl FC are still searching for their first win after losing once and drawn twice in the first three matches. David Lalrinmuana's outstanding free-kick saved their day against Mohun Bagan and although they were the better side against NEROCA, their failure to convert chances prevented them from picking three points.

Gift Raikhan's men are lacking creativity in midfield to unlock sturdy defences. They have pace and enthusiasm but that is not enough to split open teams, especially if the opponents sit deep.

They like to play on the counter but in their own backyard, they must take the initiative. Ansumana Kromah and Zikahi Dodoz need to combine well in the attacking third if they hope to get past Minerva's tight backline.

Lalrinmuana can be given a longer run on the pitch as he might be the answer to Aizawl's lack of creativity. He is a set-piece specialist and also has the vision to produce measured through balls from midfield. If Aizawl hope to get the better of Minerva, they must be more clinical.

The defending champions have also had a shaky start to their campaign with just one point from two matches.

Yu Kuboki's untimely injury has left them with bare minimum firepower in the attacking department and are yet to score a goal after 180 minutes of action. Although they are dominating possession in midfield, they have created only a few goal scoring chances. Hitova Ayemi, who banged in six goals in as many matches in the second division, is just making a comeback from an ankle injury and is not in top shape yet.

Nongdamba Naorem has shown flashes of brilliance on the flanks but it will be too much to expect much from the youngster. Rather it is time for William Opoku and Kouame Alexandre to find their scoring boots. Both of them have looked off-colour in the attacking third.

It is expected that both teams will go for the kill right from the first whistle after having a lacklustre start to their respective campaigns. But who will have the last laugh on Saturday afternoon? Let's wait and watch.
