On Thursday, 19 July, The Reserve Bank of India revealed the new look of the Rs 100 currency note.
The new note, in a bright lavender colour, will soon make its way into banks. A motif of Rani ki Vav – a UNESCO heritage site in Gujarat – will be featured on the reverse side of the note.
The colour of the note had the Twitterati amused. Here’s how they reacted:

Others couldn’t help but notice how uncannily similar the new Rs 100 note looks to the notes in the popular board game Monopoly.

Can you please change your currency - it looks suspiciously like the new Indian notes!
And stay off lavender, pink & saffron - perhaps they have stolen your colour scheme? https://t.co/3sYdSzt31V
