Unaccounted Currency Worth Over Rs 1 Cr Seized at Hyderabad Airport
Unaccounted foreign currency to the tune of over Rs one crore was seized from a passenger at the international airport in the early hours of Wednesday, the CISF said.
During screening of baggages, the CISF personnel detected currencies of seven countries from the passenger, who was bound for Dubai, they said adding the total value of the currency was approximately Rs 1.25 crore.
The foreign currency comprised UAE dirhams, Saudi riyals, Kuwaiti Dinars and US dollars.
Gang of Car Thieves Busted in Thane, 8 Arrested
An inter-state gang of car thieves was busted by police in Thane district of Maharashtra and seven people were arrested, an official said Wednesday.
Eight cars collectively valued at Rs 1.2 crore were also seized from their possession, he said.
Two of the accused were scrap dealers.

The Supreme Court, on Wednesday received the report submitted by Justice (Retd) HS Bedi on the 22 alleged fake encounter cases in Gujarat between 2002 and 2006 and asked him to share it with petitioners. The SC declined the Gujarat government's plea to make the report confidential and fixed the matter for further hearing to the third week of January.

A suspicious item was found on railway track at North 24 Parganas in Ashok Nagar, West Bengal earlier today. Nikhil Kumar, CPRO Eastern Railway has said that it is a suspected bomb. “Our bomb disposal squad has already rushed to the spot. After disposal of the bomb, line will be cleared,” he said.
