Pres Accepts Madras HC Chief Justice Tahilramani's Resignation
President of India, Ram Nath Kovind accepted the resignation of Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, VK Tahilramani.
The Ministry of Law and Justice has today notified the same.
Earlier, Justice Tahilramani had tended her resignation on 6 September after the Supreme Court Collegium recommended that she be transferred to the Meghalaya High Court.

Former Journo Robert Boyd Dies at Age 91 in New York
Robert S Boyd, who shared a 1973 Pulitzer Prize with colleague Clark Hoyt for coverage of Democratic vice presidential candidate Thomas Eagleton's exit from the campaign due to mental health issues, has died. He was 91.
The journalist died of congestive heart failure at a retirement home in Philadelphia, Hoyt said.
Iraq: Minibus Explosion Outside Karbala Kills 9, Injures 6
Iraqi security officials said an explosion in a minibus outside the Shiite holy city of Karbala has killed nine people.
According to the officials, six passengers were also wounded in the blast, which occurred as the bus was passing through an Iraqi army checkpoint between Karbala and al-Hilla.

US President Donald Trump on Friday announced new sanctions on Iran's central bank, calling the measures the "highest" sanctions ever imposed on a foreign country by the United States.
"We have just sanctioned the Iranian national bank," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, later clarifying that he was referring to the Iranian central bank.
"These are the highest sanctions ever imposed on a country," he said.

"The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Anil Kumar Jain, Special Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, as Secretary, Ministry of Coal," the order said.
Jain succeeds Sumanta Chaudhuri, a 1985-batch IAS officer of West Bengal cadre.

A major fire broke out at the naphtha cracker unit of the Haldia Petrochemicals Limited in Haldia on Friday, injuring 15 people, PTI reported, quoting a senior police officer.
The blaze that broke out at 11:15 am, was yet to be brought under control, Purba Medinipur Superintendent of Police V Solomon Nesakumar reportedly said.
