LAC Standoff: China agrees to recede to Finger 8, disengagement to end by May 2021

A major development is being reported amid the LAC standoff. Massive de-escalation process will be held by China where almost 400 Chinese tanks will go back from Pangong Tso. The disengagement is set to end by May 2021.

This comes in as an important breakthrough for India as China has agreed to retreat to Finger 8, which as per India is the Line of Actual Control in Pangong Tso area. The disengagement talks were held several times before, but no point was concluded, until now.

It is also reported that as part of the agreement reached between India and China, both sides would move back their troops to respective positions as existed before April-May this year.
