Kupwara: 1 civilian killed, 10 injured in Army firing amid protest for return of slain terrorists' bodies

The Army was forced to open fire on these stone-pelting civilians, who were demanding that the bodies of the 2 terrorists killed in the fidayeen attack on the Army camp in Kupwara district in the early hours today be returned to their families.

A civilian was killed and over 10 others injured in firing by security forces in Panzgam sector of Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district.

The Army was forced to open fire on these stone-pelting civilians, who were demanding that the bodies of the 2 terrorists killed in the fidayeen attack on the Army camp in Kupwara district in the early hours today be returned to their families.

In the terror attack, 3 security personnel were also martyred.

The encounter between terrorists and the security forces last for about four hours.

COMBING OPERATIONS LAUNCHED

Security forces launched a combing operation in and around the Army camp in Panzgam sector.

According to reports, at about 5.15 am, terrorists opened indiscriminate firing at the main gate of the camp while trying to force their way into the Army installation.

Following the terror attack, the Army has stepped up vigil along the border areas to thwart any possible infiltration attempt.
