Mathura Court has now admitted the plea seeking removal of Shahi Eidgah mosque in Mathura, which is adjacent to Krishna Janmabhumi. The petitioner has said that the maintained Status Quo Act is not applied to it and it should be removed. The plea is now going to be heard. The critics have slammed this attempt to revive a settled dispute. After the Ayodhya verdict came in, the Supreme Court mentioned it categorically that no more status quo is going to be changed after this.
Notices have been issued to all the petitioners and concerned bodies, including the Eidgah mosque and the Waqf board. The date of the next hearing, however, has not been decided yet, but the petitioners are hopeful that the matters can finally be taken forward. Last time, in another Mathura court the plea was completely declined. All the other parties, in this case, will now have to file a reply.
