'KP might not feel welcome in dressing room after truce with England'

London, Oct 4(ANI): Controversial batsman Kevin Pietersen would need to work hard to reintegrate himself in the England squad, and he might not feel very welcome at first when he joins the squad, according to sports journalist Mike Selvey.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) yesterday offered Pietersen a new four-month long central contract, which has cleared any obstacle for his England return, but former county cricketer Selvey believes it is just the start for the South Africa born batsman.

"The fallout between Kevin Pietersen, his principal employers and his England team-mates has been going on for so long, and so escalated has become the level of mutual contempt, that rather than an agreement having been reached, it appears more like an armistice, with direct hostilities halted but reparations to be made," Selvey wrote in his column for the Guardian.

"The reinstatement of a world-class cricketer is, all things considered and they need to be a good thing, but to suggest that he will be welcomed back might be stretching things a little too far at this stage," Selvey added.

"Rather than the end of the saga, the signing of a new central contract is only the beginning. The first four months of the contract are probationary," he further wrote. (ANI)
