Kia Seltos engine details, dimensions leaked ahead of launch
Kia Motors unveiled the much-awaited Seltos in India on June 20. Although we do not know the exact date when the compact SUV will be introduced in the country, we do know that it will be launched in August. Now key details about the engine specifications of Kia Seltos are out.
While the South Korean carmaker did reveal a lot of information about Kia Seltos during its unveil, important details related to the powertrain options were not made public in entirety. We did know that the compact SUV will have BSVI (BS6) compliant motors.
At the time of unveil, Kia Motors had disclosed that Seltos will have a 1.4-litre Turbo GDI petrol engine, along with other petrol and diesel motors. There will be multiple transmission options like 7-speed DCT, IVT (Intelligent Continuously Variable Transmission), 6-speed AT and 6-speed manual.
A report by Autocar India has now claimed that the 1.4-litre Turbo GDI petrol engine will produce 140 hp and 242 Nm of torque and offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox, along with an option for a 7-speed DCT. There will also be a 1.5-litre petrol motor delivering 115 hp and 144 Nm of torque. It will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox and an optional CVT. The 1.5-litre diesel powertrain will churn out 115 hp and 250 Nm of torque. This engine will also be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, with a 6-speed torque converter option.
The report also claimed that Kia Seltos will have a length of 4,315 mm, with the width and height being 1,800 mm and 1620 mm, respectively. While the wheelbase will be 2,610 mm long, the ground clearance will measure 190 mm. The vehicle will have a 433-litre boot.
Kia Seltos is expected to pose a serious challenge to Hyundai Creta. It will also challenge Nissan Kicks, Renault Captur, Tata Harrier and MG Hector. Expectations are that the compact SUV will be priced in the range of Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new Seltos will have features like the tiger-nose grille, crown jewel LED headlamps, heartbeat shape LED DRLs, ice cube LED fog lamps, LED taillights, dual muffler design on the bumper and dual exhaust pipes. Inside the cabin, there will be features like 10.25-inch touchscreen audio video navigation system with an 8-speaker Bose sound system, three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, 8-inch HUD (Heads Up Display), cruise control, EPS (Electronic Power Steering), blind-spot view monitor, eco coating and push-button start/stop. The compact SUV will also have the UVO connected car technology.
Safety features in the upcoming Kia Seltos will include six airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), electronic stability control (ESC), vehicle stability management (VSM) and traction control system (TCS), among others. It will also get a 360-degree camera.
