KFC launches Internet Escape Pods at $10,000 to Help You Enjoy Your Chicken Better

Let Colonel Sanders' protective embrace take you back to a simpler time

Imagine a world where internet connection does not exist. No Whatsapp messages, no email alerts nor any Facebook notifications. Sounds unbelievable right? Well, not the entire world, but a small tent would soon provide you respite from the hyper-connected world we live in thanks to KFC. The international fast food joint has announced the launch of an internet blocking tent called ‘Internet Escape Pod’ to help you enjoy your chicken without mobile and app notifications. The tent is made of steel and stainless steel mesh and will be sold for a whopping $10,000.

KFC Is Sending Zinger Chicken Sandwich Into Space!

The idea behind launching this product is that a family or a group of friends can sit inside and enjoy their meal in peace, without being disturbed by their phones. On its website, KFC said, “We were going to sell this for the ridiculously high price of $96,485.34, but in the spirit of Cyber Monday it can be yours for $10,000. So this Cyber Monday (or really anytime you want; I mean you bought it, so it’s up to you), let Colonel Sanders’ protective embrace take you back to a simpler time.”

The 7′ x 7′ x 6′ 6  ‘Internet Escape Pod’ by KFC can accommodate four people easily. The top of the grey coloured tent has a model of KFC founder Colonel Sanders’ made of architectural foam. KFC has however stated that the tent will have to be tested before it can claim total ‘signal impenetrability’. Once shipped, the tent has to be professionally assembled and tested to fully block internet signals. As stated in Mail Online, the Internet Escape Pod ‘is like a magic force field designed to disrupt the internet coming to and from your devices.’

When KFC broke the news of the tent, people couldn’t believe if this was a real innovation. Some also asked KFC if the price couldn’t be lowered slightly. There is no news of any offer for now, and these tents will be sold exclusively at KFC stores.

Here is how the tent looks:

Earlier this year, in July, KFC had launched an online shopping destination for KFC merchandise. Called KFC Ltd, the shopping portal offered shirts, socks, gold-coloured necklace and a ribbon string tie similar to the Colonel’s. Their collections have resonated well with their target audience so far, and it will be interesting to see how many people place an order for this unique tent. Would you like to own one?
