Kesari was welcomed with fantastic reviews from the critics and the paying audience were satisfied with the true story of Battle of Saragarhi, which saw 21 soldiers of the Sikh Regiment of the British Army fighting against 10,000 Afghanistan tribes in 1897. Though Kesari opened to an occupancy of 20-25% in the morning shows as most of theaters were shut due to Holi celebration, especially in UP and Bihar, the collections picked up post 2 PM and did well in the evening and night shows on the first day, collecting a massive Rs 21.50 crores and beating the opening day figure of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy, which collected Rs 19.25 crores when it was released on the Valentine’s Day this year. Kesari movie collected between Rs 16.5-17.5 crores on its day 2.

Kesari Second Day Box Office Collection Report

Directed by Anurag Singh, Kesari dropped around 20% as Friday was a normal working day after the big Holi festival but the collections again picked up in the evening and night shows. As per early estimates, the war-drama Kesari movie collected somewhere between Rs 16.5-17.5 crores on its second day, bringing the overall collections to a solid Rs 37.5-38.5 crores.

Kesari is Akshay Kumar’s second biggest opener beating Singh Is Bling and after Gold. Kesari also became his fourth film to touch the Rs 20+ crores opening number on the first day. Kesari, starring Parineeti Chopra, will have 4-days extended weekend to rake in moolah. Released in 3600 screens in India, Kesari is produced by Karan Johar, under the banner for Dharma Productions, Cape of Good Films, Azure Entertainment and Zee Studios, Kesari is made on a budget of Rs 80 crores.
