Kerala Shocker: Woman Allegedly Strangulates Her 9-Year-Old Daughter to Death in Kannur; Arrested

Kannur, July 5: In a shocking incident, a 42-year-old woman allegedly killed her daughter in Kerala. The incident took place on Sunday at her house in the Kuzhikkunnu area of the district. The accused has been identified as Vahida. She allegedly strangulated her nine-year-old daughter to death. A case has been registered against Vahida on the complaint of her husband, Rajesh. The accused is reportedly suffering from mental illness.

According to a report published in The Times of India, the couple had an argument on Sunday morning, after which Vahida asked Rajesh to leave. She closed the front door of the house. Rajesh called the neighbour. He then broke open the door. He found that his daughter Avantika was lying unconscious on the bed. Avantika was reportedly taken to a private hospital, where she was declared brought dead. Police found signs of strangulation on the girl's body. An investigation has been launched into the case. The girl's body was sent to the government medical college at Pariyaram for postmortem to know the exact cause of the death. The accused has been taken into custody by the police. Vahida hails from Coorg. As per the report, Rajesh was working in the Gulf, but due to lockdown, he could not return to his work. Vahida reportedly has anxiety about her health. Vahida's family members said that she had been mentally unstable for some time.
