Idukki, July 5: In a horrifying incident, a 22-year-old man allegedly raped and murdered a six-year-old girl in Kerala’s Idukki district on June 30. The incident took place at the Churakkulam estate area in the district’s Vandiperiyar area. The accused have been identified as Arjun. He lives in the neighbourhood of the victim. After committing the crime, the accused reportedly strangulated the girl to death. The police arrested the accused. According to a report published in the New Indian Express, police said that the medical examination and autopsy report confirmed that the girl was raped before she was murdered. The girl was found hanging inside a room in the tenement. The girl was raped repeatedly before she became unconscious.

The accused then hanged the girl in the lane room with a shawl. The child’s brother, who came home at 3 pm on the same found her hanging inside the room. The girl’s parents had gone out on the day of the incident. As they allowed Arjun to visit the house, he took the opportunity and committed the crime. According to reports, Arjun used to sexually assault the girl even when her parents went put for work at a tea garden in the morning. Initially, police registered the case on unnatural death. However, after the autopsy report, the investigation was launched, and the accused was arrested on Monday. Notably, Arjun even went to the girl’s funeral.
