Kerala government bans all public gatherings on New Year's Eve amid COVID-19 pandemic

In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the government of Kerala released an order on Wednesday banning all public gatherings during New Year's festivities and ordered that all state celebrations on Thursday should cease by 10.00 pm.

Given the pandemic situation of COVID-19 in the state, public celebrations of New Year 2021 are likely to lead to an increase in the transmission of COVID-19 if existing Covid Protocols are not complied with.

The Government has clarified that, under various provisions of the law, legal action shall be taken against individuals who do not comply with the COVID-19 Protocols.
