On Tuesday, the Duchess of Cambridge made her first solo engagement since announcing her third pregnancy. Despite suffering from extreme morning sickness, also known as hyperemesis gravidarum, the expectant mother showed up at the National Tennis Centre in London appearing to be in high spirits — and even hit some balls with kids in attendance.
For the occasion, the duchess ditched her usual wardrobe of coat dresses and two-pieces and instead dressed down in a tracksuit.
Wearing black $245 Monreal London bottoms with a black zip-up sweater and white collared shirt, she paired the ensemble with $190 Nike Air VaporMax trainers. The royal’s small baby bump was barely visible.
After meeting some of the U.K.’s youngest tennis stars, the duchess took to the court to show off her own skills.
HRH is a skilled tennis player and took over as patron of the Lawn Tennis Association from the queen in 2016.
Earlier this month, Kensington Palace revealed that Kate and William’s third baby is due in April. While the duchess has made several appearances since her pregnancy announcement in September, each has been with Princes William and Harry in tow.
Expect to see more of Middleton in the coming months though. According to Amy Magneson, MD, an assistant clinical professor at Columbia University, hyperemesis gravidarum tends to subside around the 12- to 13-week mark of the pregnancy.
