Kashmiri Snowshoe Racer Accused of Sexually Assaulting Minor in US

A snowshoe racer from India who had competed at the World Snowshoe Championships in New York has been accused of sexually abusing a girl at Saranac Lake Village.

Tanveer Hussain, 24, from Kashmir has been charged with assaulting a 13-year-old girl.

Saranac Lake Village police Sgt Casey Reardon told the Adirondack Daily Enterprise that the minor girl and her parents reported the abuse to police. Police also said that the assault happened on Monday in the village in the Adirondack Mountains.

Although Hussain was jailed and bailed out for $5,000, his attorney pleaded not guilty.

Tanveer Hussain was allegedly denied the US visa along with fellow athlete from Kashmir, Abid Khan due to America’s “current policy”.

Despite having submitted proper documents, an officer at the US embassy reportedly told them, “Sorry, due to our current policy we can’t issue you a visa.”
