Kashmir: Husband thanks jawans who pushed ambulance carrying pregnant wife out of danger

After an avalanche struck Betalik, near Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir on April 6, several low lying areas in the Valley witnessed heavy rainfall and flood-like situation.

The Army and civilian forces joined hands to provide succor to residents of areas like Isthil, Chehlan and Kokernag.

In one such incident, a pregnant woman in labor was rescued from an ambulance stuck on the Bandipore-Srinagar Highway that was flooded and filled with snow.




  1. The 6th Apr troops of SK Bala noticed an ambulance with sirens blazing stuck in Bandipore Srinagar Highway.
  2. On learning that the woman needed urgent medical assistance, troops pushed the stuck ambulance for more than 500 meters and put it on an alternate route.
  3. The woman's husband Abdul Aahad Khan later in the day called the company commander of 6th Apr, SK Bala to inform him that he has been blessed with a healthy baby boy.


In a separate incident, security personnel today rescued people stranded at one side of a bridge in Isthil that got washed away due to heavy rains.

Another team was able to rescue lives of six people stuck in a car that fell into the Breng Nala.
