Karnataka: Rahul Gandhi to kick-start Congress' election campaign in Hospet tomorrow
Congress president Rahul Gandhi will kick-start party's elections campaign by hosting a rally in Hospet on February 10.
Rahul Gandhi will be in Karnataka from Feb 10-13 and will be touring Bellary, Koppal, Raichur, Gulbarga and Bidar districts. Like Gujarat, Rahul will continue his temples and mutts visits in Karnataka too.
On Feb 10th, Rahul is set to visit Huligamma Temple in Bellary and Gavi Siddeshwara Mutt -- a Lingayat mutt in Yelburga constituency. He will also be visiting Khwaja Bande Nawaz Dargah in Gulbarga.
Congress is expecting over 2 lakh people to attend the rally.
The Hyderabad-Karnataka region has a majority of Muslims, Dalits and Lingayat population. By visiting temples , mutts and masjid, Congress wants to consolidate the majority and minority votes.
On his last day of tour, Rahul will be visiting Anubhava Mantapa in Bidar district. Set up by 12th century philosopher Basaveshwara, the Anubhava Mantapa is believed to be the worlds first Parliament. Prime Minister Modi recently spoke about Anubhava Mantapa in Parliament and said that Congress can't take the credit of starting democracy in India, but rather credit should go to reformer Basavanna.
Rahul will also hold meetings with farmer unions and businessmen during this tour. Chief Minister Siddaramaih and senior Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge , KC Venugopal, Veerappa Moily will accompany Rahul Gandhi during his three days tour.
