In a major thrust to boost air connectivity, Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa inaugurated the first-ever airport in Kalaburagi today. Kalaburagi Airport is 13.8km away from Kalaburagi City which will pave way for direct connectivity of North Karnataka with the state headquarters and other commercial centres. The airport is operational and a Star Air direct flight from Bengaluru landed at the aerodrome during the inauguration. AAI Chairman Arvind Singh, along with the Secretary to Minister of Civil Aviation Pradeep Singh Khorola were present during the inaugural ceremony. It is worth noting that, the Star Air Kalaburagi-Bengaluru flight, which operates thrice-a-week, is the first service from the new airport.
