On September 9, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut had moved the high court after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished “illegal" alterations at her bungalow at Pali Hill in suburban Bandra.
A division bench led by Justice S J Kathawalla had stayed the demolition drive and posted the matter for further hearing on September 22. The war continues even though the actress has left the city. In an affidavit filed by Kangana Ranaut before the High Court seeking damages of Rs 2 crores, the BMC has replied saying that this claim is an abuse of the process of law and hence should be dismissed.
Ravi, a political analyst explains that BMC is an independent body and it is well within its right to demand compensation for the cost they incurred because this was an illegal construction.
Priyanka, an advocate explains Times Now that Shiv Sena says BMC is an independent body, She questions what was BMC doing for all these years. She further stated that only when Kangana said something that was not appreciated by the government, the BMC did this.
