Kamal Haasan makes an 'acting' debut in politics
Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief Kamal Haasan is all set to make his acting debut in politics and this time the actor-turned-politician will be donning the role of a village headman.
The MNM founder will be holding a mock gram sabha in his Alwarpet residence at 4 pm on Tuesday afternoon.
This special mock gram sabha session is to make people understand the importance of a panchayat, hierarchy and organisation in a village.
This day also commemorates the 25th anniversary of constitutional status being granted to two very important local governance institutions - Panchayats and Municipalities.
The actor-turned-politician aims to convey to the people the "importance of a gram sabha that can pave the way to the empowerment of people".
The mock session will be held in the afternoon with Kamal Haasan as the village headman and about hundred people who have been invited from various villages across the state apart from party members and volunteers. The various problems faced by villagers and also the organisation of funds will be a topic of discussion.
Kamal Haasan recently adopted Adigathur village, the first out of the eight villages he plans to adopt and convert into role models.
While addressing his supporters through YouTube live on Sunday, the actor kept stressing on the importance of the educated MNM supporters and volunteers to talk and make aware of various problems to the people who live in villages.
