Karan Johar is having a fabulous 2019 as he is setting his own benchmark. The latest one being the mulit-starrer film, Kalank, featuring Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha and Madhuri Dixit starrer Kalank which has broken the record by crossing the highest opening day collection of 2019 of Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari at the box office.

Directed by Abhishek Verman ( of 2 States fame), Kalank opened to a fantastic response thanks to the promotion, marketing and the wonderful trailer. Produced by Karan Johar, Kalank has received mixed reviews from the critics and the audiences. However, the morning shows occupancy range was good between 35%-40% occupancy which was similar to Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy

2019 Box Office March Monthly Report : Amazing Month For Bollywood

The collection picked up in the evening and night shows due Mahavir Jayanti holiday across North India. As per early estimates, Kalank opened to Rs 21.60 crores defeating Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari (Rs 21.06 cores) record to become the highest opening film of 2019. This is also the highest day collections of Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt together after giving solid hits like Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya and Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya.

Made on a budget of Rs 120 crores (Production Cost: 100 Crore, Prints & Advertising Cost: 20 Crore) and released in 4000 screens, Kalank will have another holiday Good Friday on 19th April to rake in moolah and 5-days extended weekend to enjoy the first weekend collections. Kalank is presented by Fox Star Studios and produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, Sajid Nadidwala and Apoorva Mehta under the banner of Dharma Productions and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.
