Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo reportedly signs Orlando Pirates pre-contract

The outgoing Amakhosi goalkeeper has played down any talk of a rift with his former coach despite seeing little game time at Naturena

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo has reportedly signed a pre-contract with Orlando Pirates.

The lanky shot-stopper's current contract with Amakhosi is due to expire at the end of the season and Cape Town City have already confirmed their interest in Khuzwayo.

City Press has since revealed that the 27-year-old has allegedly signed a pre-contract with Chiefs rivals, Pirates.

His agent, Tim Sukazi, dismissed the rumours, but he stated that if Pirates showed interest in Khuzwayo, there would be no reason to ignore them.

“There has been no offer from Pirates, just muted talks from one or two Gauteng clubs," Sukazi said.

"I believe the offers presented by Chiefs and the other clubs will be the determining factor in his decision to stay or leave," he added.

Khuzwayo declined the opportunity to play for City, who were keen to sign him during the current Transfer Window.

The Umlazi-born shot-stopper has been frustrated by a lack of game time at Chiefs, with Itumeleng Khune firmly cementing his status as the team’s goalkeeper of choice.

When speaking to the same publication, Chiefs manager Bobby Motaung said he was not aware of any pre-contract signed by any player.

“We are still engaging with his agent and he has not indicated anything to us. I am waiting to hear what their position is," he said.

"But we’d obviously like to know if he is staying so we know where we stand. If he has signed a contract, maybe we could strike a deal now instead of waiting for June,” Motaung concluded.
