Juvenile inmates go on rampage in UP, many escpae

Lucknow, Jan 16 (IANS) Juvenile inmates of a reform centre in Uttar Pradesh fought pitched battles and injured some security personnel Wednesday, police said. Many inmates also escaped.

The fight began on a trivial issue at the reform centre in Hardoi, some 100 km from here, in the evening.

The rampaging inmates then snatched rifles of the security personnel and even fired in the air.

Many inmates also escaped from the centre though a hunt had been launched to nab them, Superintendent of Police R.K. Srivastava told IANS.

He said that for over an hour, the inmates laid siege to the centre and after firing some rounds, many escaped.
