Journalists targeted for asking Akhilesh Yadav questions; BJP condemns assault on media

As reporters jostled for answers from Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav's team in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad district on Thursday, one journalist was allegedly manhandled by security personnel in the president's team. Following the incident, Shalabh Mani Tripathi, the media advisor to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, claimed that SP goons roughed up journalists, threatened, humiliated, and chased them away. “Many people were hurt,” Tripathi claimed.

Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Keshav Prasad Maurya, also condemned the incident. Syed Tufail Hasan, the Moradabad MP for the Samajwadi Party, who was with Yadav at the time of the incident, denied the accusation, saying that the former CM did not hesitate to speak to journalists.
