Mathura, Apr 27 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik today stressed on the need for joint efforts of the state and the Centre to counter Sukama-type Naxal attack.
“It cannot be done only by the state government. A joint effort of the state and the Union government is required to counter the evil designs of the Naxalites,” he told reporters in Vrindaban.
As many as 25 CRPF personnel were on Monday killed in an attack by the Naxals in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district.
Naik also said the country is behind the bereaved families.
Inaugurating the silver jubilee celebrations of Param Shakti Peetha at Vatsalya Gram in Vrindaban, he said, “One can understand the teachings of the Bhagwad Gita, which stress is on ‘duty towards society’, by visiting Vatsalya Gram.” Speaking on the occasion, state power minister Shrikant Sharma said, “The prime minister had given the responsibility of the state to a ‘Sadhu’, who is working hard to turn Uttar Pradesh into ‘Uttam Pradesh’.”
The ‘Yogi’ is sincerely is working for the “real development” of the state, he said.
Sharma said cleaning of the Yamuna river is a priority of the state as well as the Centre since it is a pre-condition for the success of the ‘Namami Gange’ programme.
“We would go to any extent for the safety of women,” he said.
Appreciating the philosophy of ‘Vatsalya Gram’, UP Minister of State Swati Singh requested Sadhvi Ritambhara to open such centres in other parts of the state.
