JNU administration issues clarification on Vivekananda statue; says fund arranged by alumnus

A row has now erupted in the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to unveil the life-size Vivekananda statue on the campus. The students have repeatedly questioned the inauguration of the statue and the funds used for it. The administration has, however, stated that the funds were provided by the alumnus.

The statue will be unveiled on November 12th via video conferencing by the Prime Minister. JNU professor Buddha Singh stated that the funds were provided by the alumni and the university has not spent anything from their side. The students last year raised questions, whether the library funds were being used for the construction of the statue.
