Jio is testing a Triple Play plan for GigaFiber users

20 May 2019: Jio is testing a Triple Play plan for GigaFiber users

Reliance Jio's upcoming GigaFiber looks primed to disrupt the broadband space in India.

The FTTH service, which is currently under trial in several Indian cities, will reportedly ship with a Triple Play Plan - a combo of broadband-landline-TV services.

Notably, this potentially game-changing plan is currently being tested by the telecom giant.

Here's all about Jio GigaFiber Triple Play Plan.

In the pipeline: GigaFiber Triple Play plan is presently available for Jio employees

For some time now, Jio has been offering the GigaFiber service under a Preview plan. But interestingly, there's another plan in the pipeline.

TelecomTalk has spotted a new "Triple Play" plan on the company's login portal, claiming that it is currently exclusive to Jio employees only.

The plan is expected to be offered to regular users when the service would launch commercially.

Benefits: Everything to know about the Triple Play plan

Under the Triple Play plan, Jio is offering 100GB of high-speed data, unlimited voice calling, and a complimentary subscription to Jio Home TV as well as Jio Apps.

According to another report, this combo plan will available at a starting price of Rs. 600 per month and users will have an option to connect several smart home devices at upto Rs. 1,000 extra.

In progress: What's the update on commercial roll-out of Jio GigaFiber

Reportedly, Jio is currently conducting Ready for Sale (RFS) surveys to identify suitable areas to install its GigaFiber service.

The company officials are reaching out to the authorities of Multiple Dwelling Units like the high-rise societies and Single Dwelling Units such as private homes for the deployment of the service.

However, there is no official timeline regarding the launch of the service at present.

Fact: The service will launch commercially in 1,600 cities

To recall, the company had earlier announced to launch its fiber-optic broadband service across 1,100 cities. However, the roll-out will now be even bigger. In a statement announcing March 2019 quarter earnings, Reliance has confirmed to launch Jio GigaFiber across 1,600 cities in the country.
