Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that her euphoria at winning the 2013 Best Actress Academy Award for her performance in Silver Linings Playbook was somewhat short-lived.

Notoriously, as she made her way to the stage to pick up the accolade and make her acceptance speech, Lawrence fell on the stairs in front of the star-studded audience and the millions of people watching at home.

Lawrence has now admitted that for “a very long time” she was “very sensitive” about the incident.

In the build-up to that night at the Oscars, Lawrence told Absolutely Not that she was “very superstitious” and didn’t even “want to acknowledge the possibility” that she could win.

So much so that she didn’t write a speech, and instead just “had everything” that she wanted to say in her head.

“I was very, very nervous but I was ready. All of the adrenaline clears out and they call my name and I'm elated and I'm in shock... And then I fell, and it erased everything from my mind. My full brain went blank.”

Thankfully, Lawrence said she could now look back at the moment “fondly”.

However, in the immediate aftermath, she was so mortified by this “horrific humiliation” that when CNN reporter Anderson Cooper alleged that she had faked the fall Lawrence was devastated.

Later, when Lawrence bumped into Cooper at a Christmas party she said she told the journalist how disgusted he was by the accusation, and he apologised.

“What I led with was, 'Have you ever tried to walk up stairs in a ball gown? So then how do you know?'

“He apologised immediately and said he didn't know and gave this wonderful apology. I was all fired up... he probably told everyone I was a psycho.”
