JEE Main results to be declared before April 30?

18 Apr 2019: JEE Main results to be declared before April 30?

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2019 for April concluded last week. And now, all eyes would be on the results, which are expected soon.

As per the official notice, the test results will be out before April 30.

However, considering that JEE Main (January) results were announced just one week after the exam was concluded, April edition results can be expected sooner.

Details: Cut-off might be higher this year than last year's: Experts

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has conducted JEE Main this year in two phases: January and April.

The April edition of the Computer Based Test (CBT) was conducted from April 7 to 12, throughout the country and abroad.

Now, with a change in the marking system and relatively easy papers, experts believe that the cut-off might be higher this year, as compared to last.

Marking System: NTA will follow percentile system, raw marks for breaking ties

As per the changes, candidates won't be given any ranks.

NTA will merge the raw marks obtained in each subject to calculate percentiles.

However, raw scores in each subject will be used to break ties between candidates.

Those with higher marks in Mathematics will be given preference, followed by Physics and then Chemistry.

Lastly, the dates of birth of the candidates will be considered.

Fact: Final merit list will be announced by April end

Further, the candidates who have appeared for JEE Paper 1 in both January and April exams, will get the final percentile by considering the best out of two. After merging all the candidates from both exam sessions, the final merit list will be announced.

Advanced: JEE Advanced to be conducted on May 27 this year

All those who qualify JEE Main would then have to appear for JEE Advanced.

About that, an announcement on the official JEE website reads, "The examination will be held in India and abroad, on May 27, 2019 (Monday)."

For JEE Main in January, a total of 9,29,198 appeared, and for the April session 9,35,741.

This signifies many have appeared for the exam again.
