JCO Killed in IED Blast Along LoC in Poonch in J&K

This is third ceasefire violation along Indo-Pakistan border in Jammu & Kashmir in the past three days.

A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), Naib Subedar S Sanayaima Kom was killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast along the Line of Control (LoC) in Degwar sector in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district, according to a defence spokesperson. The JCO was a native of Manipur and is survived by his wife and three children, he said.

He, however, did not give details as to how the blast took place along the LoC and whether the IED was planted by cross-border militants.

"The exact cause of the explosion is being ascertained," a source said.

Last year, militants from across the border had made several bid to target troops along LOC by planting and exploding IEDs in Poonch, Rajouri, Jammu and Samba district sector.
