Jammu & Kashmir: Three Terrorists Killed in Encounter in Anantnag; Restrictions Imposed in Srinagar Fearing Protests
Srinagar, Nov 18: Five Militants were gunned down in a joint operation launched by Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday. The operation also witnessed the death of an Indian Air Force officer. Initial reports suggested that two jawans were also injured in Hajin area of Bandipora district.
The Indian Army has successfully neutralised many dreaded terrorists in a slew of encounter in recent past. The consistent blows appeared to have broken the backbone of terror organisations including Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba. Among the major targets, the security officers have neutralised Sabzar Bhat, Umer Khalid, Abdul Qayoom Najar and Yaseen Itoo ‘Ghazanvi’ in recent months.
Today’s action by the army comes hours later before it busted a terrorist hideout in Forest area of Naidgam, Chhatru and recovered arms and ammunition.
The arms and ammunition were concealed inside a natural cave. During the search operations, two Chinese pistols with two magazines and five rounds, one .303 rifle with one magazine and ten cartridges, one Under-Barrel Grenade Launchers (UBGLs) launcher with five grenades were recovered from the spot.
