Indian Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar, who was on a four-day US tour, Friday morning said that he conveyed to the new Trump administration on why partnership with India is important for the American economy.
Jaishankar said the discussions were aimed at sensitising India's concern over security of Indian nationals and the H-1B visa issue."If the Trump administration's intention is to bring back American companies to America and attract more foreign investment, there will be more growth and so it is important that America remains competitive," Jaishankar said in the context of H-1B visa.
Jaishankar held meetings with a number of senior US officials--Secretary of state Rex W Tillerson, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, Secretary of Homeland Security John F Kelly, National Security Advisor Lt Gen HR McMaster, House Speaker Paul Ryan and senior members of the Congress
He said, he has extended an invitation to Tillerson and Ross to visit India.
The Foreign Secretary said the visit was productive and that the Trump administration is willing to take the relationship forward.
