Jaipur CCD woman staffer says she slapped customer after she was abused

The youth who was slapped on camera by a woman staffer from Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) in Jaipur has been instead booked for assaulting and hurling abuses at the woman.

The accused Arpan Verma, a student of Delhi's National Law University, had shared a video of the female employee slapping him after he pointed out cockroaches in the cafe. The incident took place on March 12.

The video triggered a barrage of comments after it was shared repeatedly on social media. However, three days after the incident the employee identified as Priyanka Priyadarshini, filed a complaint at the Manak Chowk police station of Jaipur.

Priyadarshini complained to the police that she was harassed by Verma who also threatened to outrage her modesty, said the police.

According to Priyadarshini, Verma was accompanied by another person when he entered the CCD outlet near Hawa Mahal. The duo had ordered some beverages, but there was only coffee on offer. Hearing this, Verma got furious and abused her.

In her complaint, she said that the accused even called her a slut and bitch.

Priyanka told the police that the duo left the cafe after the incident and later returned and began taking a video of cockroaches in the cafe.

The video showed Verma pointing out cockroaches and Priyanka slapping him.

Station house officer from Manak Chowk police station has confirmed that a complaint against Verma has been filed.
